Bihar SSC 10+2 Syllabus and Pattern
Nature and scheme of examination
In the light of objective Bihar Staff Selection Commission Examination Conduct Rules-2010, preliminary examination will be conducted if more than 40 (forty) thousand applications are received.
The preliminary examination may be conducted in more than one phase if more applications are received. In case the examination is conducted in different stages, the examination result will be prepared by adopting the process of equalization.
The preliminary examination will be of objective nature. Candidates equal to 05 (five) times the number of category wise vacancies available through the preliminary examination will be selected for the main examination. A separate advertisement will be published for the main examination.
Preliminary Examinations In the preliminary examination, there will be one paper on General Knowledge, which will have the following topics:
(a) General Studies
(b) General science and mathematics.
(c) Mental Ability Test (Comprehension/Logic/Reasoning/Mental Ability).
Questions will be objective and multiple choice. Total number of questions will be 150. 4 marks will be given for each correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. The duration of the exam will be 2 hours 15 minutes. The medium of language in the preliminary examination will be Hindi/English. If there is any difference between Hindi and English question papers, only English questions will be valid.
Bihar SSC 10+2 Syllabus:- Prelims Exam Syllabus is as follows:
Section (a) General Studies
The purpose of the questions will be to test the candidate’s general knowledge of the surrounding environment and his/her ability to apply it in the society. Such questions related to knowledge of matters like current events and day-to-day happenings, minute observation and scientific approach towards them, about which any educated person is expected to have knowledge, will also be included. In this, questions can be specifically asked regarding Bihar, India and its neighboring countries.
(i) Contemporary topics:- Scientific progress, National/International awards, Indian languages, book, script, capital currency, sports players, important events.
(ii) India and its neighboring countries – History of neighboring countries, History of India, Culture, Geography, Economic scenario, Independence movement, Main features of Indian agriculture and natural resources, Constitution and polity of India, Political system of the country, Panchayat Raj development, Bihar’s contribution in five year plan and national movement. .
Section (B) General Science and Mathematics
In this, questions can generally be asked from the following subjects of matriculation level:
(i) General Science:- Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography
(ii) Mathematics: – Questions related to number system, computation of whole numbers, interrelation between decimal and fractional numbers, basic numerical mathematical operations, percentage, ratio and proportion, average, interest, and profit and loss.
Mental Ability
In this, both verbal and non-verbal questions can be asked. In this component, as many questions as possible related to the following can be asked: – Analogy, similarity and difference, spatial imagination, problem solving, analysis, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concept, numerical mathematical reasoning, numerical mathematical number series coding and interpretation.
Bihar SSC 10+2 Qualifying Marks
In the light of Resolution No. 2374, dated 16.07.2007 issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (General Administration Department), it will be mandatory for the candidates to obtain minimum qualifying marks in the written examination which is as follows:
General Category – 40 percent
Backward Class – 36.5 percent
OBC – 34 percent
Caste/Tribe – 32 percent
Female (all categories) – 32 percent
Disabled (all categories) – 32 percent
